Vinge and Herbert Smith held a joint seminar

On Dec. 2 Vinge and Herbert Smith held a joint seminar on Investment Disputes at Vinge´s Stockholm office.

The purpose of the seminar was to discuss bilateral investment protection treaties which have developed into one of the most important legal instruments to promote cross-border investment. Anna-Maj Hultgård, Deputy Director, Department for International Trade at the Swedish Foreign Ministry and Christer Söderlund, Partner at Vinge discussed the Evolution of Multilateral and Bilateral Investment Treaties and Fundamental Aspects of Investment Protection.
Laurence Shore, Partner at Herbert Smith talked about The dispute resolution mechanism in state-investor relationships.
Hans Bagner, Partner at Vinge shared his views on the challenge of investment arbitral awards. The seminar ended with contributions by Matthew Weiniger and Craig Shepherd on Current issues and trends in investment treaty arbitration.

It was important and interesting for us to together with Herbert Smith provide a seminar where information on how investment treaties operate and how investors can make use of them, Christer Söderlund said.
