2013 IN BRIEF

2013 – the year in which Advokatfirman Vinge celebrated its 30th anniversary – was a successful one for the firm. The year was characterised, overall, by a continuation of the market’s wait-and-see attitude to M&A, but there were clear signs of a revival in stock market confidence.

Stefan Backman awarded company lawyer of the year

At an award ceremony held during the Swedish Company Lawyers Association Spring meeting on 3 April 2014, Stefan Backman, general counsel at Tele 2 Sverige AB, received the award Company Lawyer of the Year 2104.

Vinge awarded Swedish Law Firm of the Year by IFLR

Vinge received the award “Swedish Law Firm of the Year” at the IFLR’s European awards ceremony held at the Dorchester hotel in London on 3 April 2014.

Vinge wins IP Firm of the Year Award

At an awards ceremony in London yesterday, Vinge was awarded the industry’s top prize and declared “Firm of the Year – Sweden” – by the analysis company and media house, Managing Intellectual Property.

The launch of Vinge’s Expert Panel is in full progress

Vinge Expert Panel was presented to an invited audience of 35 in-house lawyers during an afternoon mingle at the Stockholm office on 16 January this year. Finn Madsen gave the opening speech and provided a brief presentation of the new concept.

As previously communicated and following the arrival of Håkan Borgenhäll, one of Sweden’s leading intellectual property lawyers, as well as the recruitment of tier-1 ranked Ulf Dahlgren, Vinge continues to strengthen its full service IP Practice Group through the recruitment of Doctor of Laws Richard Wessman, who specialises in trademark rights.

Christer Söderlund appointed president

In August this year, Christer Söderlund of Vinge was appointed as president in arbitral proceedings between an investor and Venezuela before the ICSID in Washington DC. In addition, the Swedish Government recently renewed Christer’s appointment as an arbitrator at the ISCID for another six years.
