February 27, 2026

Michele Fara, Ninos Aho, Paula Bäckdén, Imola Szanto and Anders Leissner have authored the Swedish chapter in the Chambers Global Practice Guide: Shipping 2026.

This year’s chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the Swedish maritime legal framework, covering both national legislation and international conventions relevant to shipping and maritime operations. The guide addresses topics including vessel registration, mortgages and security interests, maritime liens and arrest, limitation of liability, maritime casualties, passenger and cargo claims, as well as enforcement and jurisdictional issues.

The chapter also highlights current topics such as tonnage taxation, international sanctions, the IMO 2020 regulatory framework, and the practical implications of the evolving security situation in the Baltic Sea region.

Vinge’s contribution offers a structured and in-depth overview of Swedish maritime law and its international dimensions, serving as a practical reference for stakeholders in shipping, finance and trade.
